View of the San Clemente Pier and beach along the Pacific Ocean as seen from an Amtrak train heading up the coast between Oceanside and San Juan Capistrano, California, 1:23 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
There are a number of images that are topically related to the entry. However, the topically-unrelated images (it should be obvious which are which) are part of my long-delayed-in-posting set taken on my trip to coastal Southern California with Gary from Sept 19 to Sept 24.
Another view of the San Clemente Pier and beach along the Pacific Ocean as seen from a train heading up the coast in San Clemente, California, 1:23 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
Recall that we flew from BWI Airport to San Diego (direct/non-stop) and rented a vehicle and stayed in Oceanside. During that trip, we also took the train a short distance up the coast to San Juan Capistrano, where we spent the day -- even hiking down a rugged portion of coastline at Dana Point and going into the ocean.
One of the ubiquitous elevated, weirdly lantern-shaped, turquoise-hued lifeguard stands on the beaches of Southern California, this one (#12) in a light late morning fog in Oceanside, Calif., 11:09 a.m., Sept 23, 2020
You'll note the large seagull perched atop it. I saw no lifeguards in any of those stands on the trip there -- perhaps because of Covid shrieking media hysteria and endless, intrinsically counterproductive and highly destructive, state-and-local lockdowns.
Looking right down the San Clemente Pier from the speeding train -- how weird is that?? -- San Clemente, Calif., 1:23 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
I've already posted some pictures from that trip here and a big batch here in an entry whose written content was topically unrelated to those images. The So-Cal Pacific trip pictures in this entry are not in any particular order (indeed, sometimes they're out of order in a given sequence such as the train set). However, they are all captioned.
Beach and Pacific Ocean view, San Clemente, California, 1:23 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
Somewhat related to this entry, though, the Covid-1984 media pandemic and casedemic situation hadn't exploded just yet into its current, WOKE Cultural Marxist-infused irrational frenzy at the behest of Democrat pols, Big Media, Big Tech, Corporate Oligarchs, and others seeking their panopticon-enabled "Great Reset" of society, indeed, civilization itself into some sort of THX-1138 dystopia.
A large RV (motorhome) tearing along I-5 just north of Oceanside in the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton area, as seen from the train heading up the California coastline, 1:08 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
I could never in a billion years own and operate one of those quintessentially American things. I can barely drive a regular car.
In the case of California, Gov Gavin "Feminine Itch" Newsom's endless, extraconstitutional edicts were in a slight lull during our trip there. And the situation in a place such as Oceanside wasn't (isn't?) nearly as bad as in the hellish Illiberal Left dystopia of Eric Garcetti's Los Angeles.
The now-closed San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station ("SONGS"), as seen from the train heading up the Cali coast,
1:17 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
SONGS indeed: It's a HIT PARADE of SONGS such as "No Baseload Generation" - "Rolling Blackouts" - "Net Zero Energy-Constrained Oligarchy" - "Fucking Clueless Energy Policy." Yes, I get it: Putting a nuclear generating station on an earthquake (and tsunami)-prone coastline is inherently a bad idea (see: FUKUSHIMA), but Cali's approach is to have NO energy infrastructure, just to take it, The Hunger Games-style, from everyone else. Fuck you.
RV campground in or near the San Onofre State Beach on the Pacific Ocean, as seen from the train heading up the California coastline, 1:18 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
Having said that, I would like to return to Oceanside and also visit San Diego once things are a bit more back to normal (assuming they ever are). I also really want to see Santa Catalina Island -- and intend to take the ferry there, perhaps from Dana Point.
Parked vehicles and a lone palm, San Onofre State Beach on the Pacific Ocean, as seen from the train heading up the California coastline, 1:18 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
Oh, yes, since I'm talking about coastal Southern California, I am (slowly) nearing completion of what is turning out to be a Heruclean entry on, of all things, the TV show Three's Company -- to include trying to find the spot in Los Angeles' Venice Beach area where John Ritter has a bicycle pratfall in the early seasons' opening sequence.
Rocky beach and cliffs of the Dana Point headlands, Dana Point, Calif., 4:43 p.m. Sept 22, 2020
OK, let's start the actual content portion of this entry ...
Below are a few faces of the totalitarian-minded Health State Complex:
Above: Incoming Biden CDC chief Rochelle Walensky, who promises shitty face diapers on her family and everyone else, not to mention life-destroying Biden / Illiberal Left lockdowns approved by the forces of E-Commerce oligarchy, Big Media, and Big Tech on Big Academia's non-WOKE-approved groups, for as long as it takes "to eliminate systematic viral racism" ...OK, I made that up, but it's actually only a small exaggeration.
Above: This scary bitch is Toronto's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa, who is urging family and friends to turn informant on each other. Why? Because their Covid Disease Dystopia is under constant threat from logic, reason, and general disgust with the whole fucking Great Reset-designed but intrinsically ever-less-realistic media pandemic / Covid testing complex "casedemic" shit-show.
Above: And here is everybody's favorite creepy parody of a bad drag act in Pennsylvania, the s/he/zhe/ze/xie/it creature that serves as Pennsylvania's Secretary of Un-Health. This "Miss Rachel" Levine creature has issued apparently urgently-needed guidelines on Covid-safe real-life orgies and online virtual sex.

As for the Covid media pandemic / testing casedemic, it remains completely out of control -- even with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine now being distributed and the Moderna having just been approved (on Friday) following the greenlight on Thursday by the same Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) that OK'd the first vaccine a week earlier.
Lone beach walker, Pacific coastline as seen from the train, San Clemente, Calif., 1:22 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
I'd like to note here that Alex Berenson had a tweet thread on Tuesday describing the massive Covid death overcount since it can be compared to the CDC excess death weekly figures (with a lag of about four weeks before the latter are meaningful). I've created a set of three image files containing a compendium of tweets that are featured below.
The average number of tests per day is approaching 2 million and, as Jordan Schachtel calculates in his piece on what he calls the COVID Testing Industrial Complex, has achieved $100B year equivalent status. (To be clear, I say "equivalent" because we aren't a year into this garbage.) And, as he points out, much of the testing is functionally worthless thanks to the 40-Ct PCR test.
This $100B is being funded by a bottomless reservoir of federal reimbursements to the states and localities, both of which have both a powerful financial and -- especially in the Democrat-run jurisdictions -- political incentive to categorize literally every death as a "Covid death" where "with" or "from" is completely irrelevant.
This is how you can get absurd outcomes in which gunshot fatalities are listed as "Covid" deaths because they tested positive in a test at some unspecified point.
Deaths from months ago are being matched on certificates to Covid for the same reason.
Pacific coastline beach looking north as seen from train, San Clemente, Calif., 1:24 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
This picture and the three below were taken on a (from my East Coast perspective) highly unusual stretch of train tracks that run atop what amounts to a kind of seawall -- with ocean waves literally breaking at the base of the rocks and, presumably during rough and high seas, throwing seawater ON the tracks (and any passing train).
The Pacific Ocean surf literally beside the fast-moving train, San Clemente, Calif., 1:24 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
Again, from an U.S. Mid-Alantic perspective whereby train lines tend to run through old industrial and urban ghetto areas, having a train line literally ON the ocean at the edge of the beach is just bizarre.
Hospitals are nowhere near being "overwhelmed" -- unless by "overwhelmed" is meant typically crowded ERs where the "with Covid" accounting trick used for the death toll is also used for classifying any patients who tests positive no matter the reason for the visit. The real issue -- ventilator usage -- is no where near strained, much less at capacity, despite Big Media's endless searches for anecdotal cases of a random hospital with a problem.
OK, the train could NOT be ANY closer to the Pacific Ocean than this without being IN the Pacific Ocean,
San Clemente, Calif., 1:24 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
But the fact remains that the day-after-day-after-day of "RECORD COVID CASES! RECORD COVID DEATHS!!" -- i.e., weaponizing the basically meaningless casedemic -- is successfully serving the purpose of zombifying large segments of the populations of those States where Democrats run everything.
Another view of the Pacific Ocean surf literally beside the fast-moving train, San Clemente, Calif., 1:24 p.m., September 22, 2020
Here you can see a bit farther up the coastline to where it begins to bend to the west up toward Long Beach. (At least I think that's what is visible on the north-northwestern horizon, and I'm not confusing the much closer Dana Point headlines.) What I do know is that this was the most pictures I ever took in two (2) one-minute periods and that appeared on this blog: 1:23 and 1:24 p.m., September 24, 2020. (Actually, 4 is about the most pics I can physically take in a minute.)
That particular coastline view called to my mind the image (see directly above) of the City of Limbo in the movie Inception, specifically, the sea-fringing part that was forever falling into the surf of that endless, infinite, dream-world ocean.
Of course, in the Big Blue cities of those states -- in particular, New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles -- the anarcho-terrorism of Antifa and its BLM appendage is being actively stoked by the mayors of those collapsing economic and culture centers.
Trevor's at the Tracks and train depot, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:33 p.m., September 22, 2020
That is, these mayors are actively attempting to create Mogadishu-like "autonomous" CHOP/CHAZ ones replete with lawlessness, lawless "Summer of Love" violence, filth and squalor with homeless people and addicts shitting everywhere outside (libs seem to get off on that), and general societal breakdown.
Train depot view, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:34 p.m., September 22, 2020
So there's this bizarre and paradoxical situation in which Democrat pols are creating a health/medical-based totalitarian state, destroying all institutions and systems to include small businesses, churches, the police, and anybody not approved by the diversity enforcement police -- but also encouraging all the lawless, violent, squalid "autonomous zones" in their cities.
While it all seems hopelessly intangled and irrational, always remember that the longterm goal of this -- and something that Covid has helped expendite ways the Left could have only dreamed at the start of 2020 -- is the destruction of traditional American (and Western) society and its "Great Reset" replacement. The key traits of the "Reset" society are: Energy-constrained ("net zero"); Culturally Marxist yet late 19th Century oligarchical; Social Media / entertainment addled; doped up on pot and pills (and maybe booze, though that tends to be messier); and most grotesquely, deeply racist through identity politics fascism.
The result: A Neo-Stalinist Techno-Panopticon dystopia self-enforced primarily through the citizenry itself rather than by a secret police.
Train depot view, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:35 p.m., September 22, 2020
A few thoughts on the "diversity" matter mentioned above because grasping what it means is actually key to understanding the identity politics fascism of the Left. As explained in this excellent piece by Victor Davis Hanson, the diversity fixation means that "[a]nyone with even one drop of nonwhite ethnicity in his ancestry, or who was not male or heterosexual, joined an updated 'rainbow coalition' of victims." This diversity fixation, perversely, has nothing to do with one's economic or financial status. Rather, it is a "one-drop racialism and the stigmatization of the white male" that allows for multimillionaires such as the Obamas to "lecture the lathe worker in southern Ohio or the insurance salesman in Tennessee on their 'systemic racism'."
Another train depot view, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.,
1:35 p.m.,September 22, 2020
Occasionally, though, this malevolent lunacy degenerates into outright farce as when you have that grotesque gender non-binary whatever made-up pronoun Seattle Councilwoman Lisa Herbold, a WOKE-crazed Bolshevik who is actively seeking to defund / disband Seattle's police department AND to decriminalize all manner of crimes, calls the police for a particular misdemeanor crime -- someone tossing a rock into a window of her house -- that she wants decriminalized via all kinds of Big Academia-developed psycho-babbling horseshit.
For more on that, see here.

Anyway, back to Covid matters ...
As the vaccines are rolled out -- and political leaders on dramatically getting vaccinated in front of cameras to include outgoing VP Mike Pence -- there is a potentially significant issue involving possible side effects, especially in younger and healthier people who, honestly, do not NEED a Covid vaccine. The issue for them is that the odds of adverse side effects are much higher than the dangers from an almost certainly nonasymptomatic case of Covid-19. (Alex Berenson is going wild on Twitter over all this. I'm going to refrain from delving into it in this entry.)
Train depot and train tracks, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:40 p.m., September 22, 2020
What's really fascistic disgusting, though, is that Critical Race Theory-infused poison is filtering into the discussion and even CDC policy guidelines of who should have priority for the vaccines (since general society-wide distribution is still 3 to 5 months away).
Gnarled, ancient tree named "Old Mr. Tree," by the train tracks, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:41 p.m., Sept 22, 2020
I don't understand how these giant, ancient trees -- this one is purportedly 220 years old -- can grow in such a dry climate as Southern California. These are not like the palms that grow there and that can hold water like crazy.
With its underlying identity politics-based racialist fascism and de facto Marxist binary obsession with oppressor / oppressed, conflict, and just "getting even" for all wrongs real and imagined, CRT and its more conceptually ethereal offshoot of WOKEISM, are a dangerous virus. Wherever they land, they begin destroying the host societal organism by altering its structural DNA. They also spread like a virus or, if you prefer, like cancer cells.
Above: The first of a series of images of of tweets and compendiums of tweets by Twitter user JCompson_III (not sure the individual's actual name). These tweets pivot off of a grotesque New York Times article that shows the extent to which poisonous Critical Race Theory (CRT) has infected Big Media as embodied in the so-called "Newspaper of Record" to include Covid vaccination matters.
In the past week, the New York Times has been trolling the racist diseased intellectual sewers of Big Academia looking for "medical and ethical" experts to explain why, once you cut through the all the social justice horseshit gibberish, old white people should be made to die for the sake of social justice in Covid vaccine distribution.
The CRT-based poisonous idea is that such unequal distribution that allows old, white to people will "equalize" the differences between classes and races -- where the "race" to be punished for the sake of equalization is "the White race," as defined in CRT. This is what the New York Times -- as embodiment of the racist Illiberal Left -- earnestly believes.
On that last point, it's difficult to overstate how fascistic and racist is the Illiberal Left. In the case of the New York Times, it is now a deeply malevolent and dangerous organism that has as much in common with journalism as firemen in Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 and with newspapers as The Times in Orwell's 1984.
Here it is simply stated in a Red State article by writer Bonchie: Hot Take: Old People and Teachers Are Too White for the Vaccine.
Quoting the opening paragraph:
If you thought something as non-controversial as distributing a vaccine during a pandemic would be free from woke politics, think again. The New York Times is out with a new piece quoting multiple “experts” who have decided that the prioritization of precipitants should depend on one’s race. In saner times, this would be considered blatantly racist, but it’s 2020, so as long as you are bagging on old white people, it’s all good.
Honestly, it's no overstatement to say that the New York Times is actively encouraging a form of eugenics for the sake of CRT.
The trio of "experts" it found to "prove" this point included Harvard ass-wipe Dr. Marc Lipsitch; U-Penn Mengelian "ethicist" Dr. Harald Schmidt (his Twatter picture makes him look like a cross between an raccoon-eyed alcoholic and Dr. Mengele -- see left); and frizzy-haired leftwing thinktank WOKESTER Elise Gould.
As David Marcus writes in this piece in The Federalist: The American Left Has Now Fully Embraced Racism.
God, the bitter and bizarre irony.
Train depot area with palms, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:41 p.m., September 22, 2020
Make no mistake, though: The virus of CRT and WOKEISM is such that the people who at the New York Times -- it's cadre of Culturally Marxist "reporters," its editors, and up to the food chain to just below the publisher -- are PROUD of themselves for peddling this garbage. This is the world they WANT.
Train depot area by a small restaurant or bric-a-brac shop (I don't recall), San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:43 p.m., September 22, 2020
Of course, the dark irony of this is that few of them -- the wealthy and super-WOKE white ones -- don't realize is that in any CRT utopia with that "Department of Anti-Racism" (DOA) that Dr. Ibram X. Kendi craves.
Norfolk Island Pine, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:44 p.m., September 22, 2020
To clarify, I think this is a Norfolk Island Pine. I know they grow in Florida and feature really rough and scaly bark. I'm not sure how this type of tree could readily grow in both climates.
But this is precisely where CRT quickly leads you: A brutal fascist society in which "wrong" groups are sent to camps or otherwise left to die. You end up in Bill de Blasio's New York City in a Kurt Schlichter novel of post-Split America.
Speaking of Doc Ibram, he lobbed one of his countless "YOU'RE RACIST!" accusations at Alex Berenson on Friday. Above and below are compendium screenshots of the tweets that "triggered" Kendi (surprised he reads Berenson) -- which was initiated by one of those weird reader-trolling pieces the nihilistic rag POLITICO ran about Kendi's "DOA" idea -- followed by his interaction with Berenson:
I'm actually beginning to think that Doc Ibram is kind of a feckless pussy who really has no ability to defend anything he says outside the reverse racist cultic cocoon of Big Academia. He simply never engages anyone outside this bubble -- and, in fact, aside from screaming "RACIST! RACIST! RACIST!" could not coherently and compellingly defend anything he says.
Train depot area with palms and signs, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:47 p.m., September 22, 2020
OK, I really need to wrap up this entry. It went on way too long -- and it took me nearly three days to complete in multiple sittings.
Young family at the train depot San Juan Capistrano, Calif., 1:49 p.m., September 22, 2020
Up close, this guy was rather attractive -- even his Southern California bleach blonde hair. He was holding his young daughter with his wife / her mom next to them.
My next planned entry will be next week, although possibly not until Tuesday night. The upcoming week includes the Christmas holiday. My plan is to go Glen Burnie to visit my mom for a few days.
Pacific overlook view, Dana Point, Calif., 3:27 p.m., September 22, 2020
Just FYI, I still have potentially 55 pictures from my Southern California trip to post. I will probably post 30 to 40 of them -- but in future entries and in similar topically-non-related fashion the way I did in this entry. It's the only way I'll ever get them posted.
Alright, I'm signing off now. Again, my next planned entry won't be for several days.
