Evening thunderstorm downpour, 30th and M Streets NW, Georgetown, Washington, D.C., 6:53 p.m., August 28, 2020
Note the water bubbling up through two manhole cover holes.
I was in Georgetown on Friday evening -- having planned to go to Angolo Italiano restaurant but instead, because it was not ready for business by quarter to five, I went to Bangkok Joe's at Washington Harbour. At the point of this picture, I was just walking home. In the end, about 2 inches of rain fell on Friday into Saturday, specifically, 1.96" at National Airport (KDCA).
Rainy evening along the C&O Canal, Georgetown, Washington, D.C., 6:49 p.m., August 28, 2020
Speaking of rain, I need to post a weather update, specifically, an update on the precipitation totals for August, which has been a rather wet month., especially for BWI Airport, which is nearing 12 inches (one foot) of rain.
In particular, the KBWI month-to-date total is 11.59" (+8.50"), a fact that makes the nearby KNAK total of 4.89" (+1.11") deeply suspect.
The KDCA and KIAD totals are 8.33" (+5.49") and 7.09" (+3.66"), respectively.
KDMH remains offline.
There's another bout of rain possibly coming tomorrow that could add to these totals.
The year-to-date (YTD) numbers for the three airports are:
KDCA: 35.45" (+9.14")
KBWI: 37.49" (+9.74")
KIAD: 33.67" (+5.77")
KNAK: 23.53" (+3.78")
Again, I just don't believe the KNAK numbers -- even the baseline ones. As for KDMH, it has been offline since June 2nd.
Apologies, but I just can't seem to put together an entry. I very nearly got one completed tonight -- that is, just the content, not all the imagery, to say nothing of the formatting.

That being the case, I just wanted to say that I have an entry in draft, and I should have it completed tomorrow night. But in the meantime, I'm just posting this entry to let you know that I just couldn't complete my planned entry. Instead, I'm just home at this late hour watching old sitcoms and getting ready to go to bed -- while enjoying yet another vodka seltzer water with real grapefruit.
Evening downpour, Georgetown, Washington, D.C.,
6:58 p.m., August 28, 2020
Having said all that, it was a good weekend that included a Saturday walk from Bethesda -- where I went to Mon Ami Gabi -- down the Capital Crescent Trail to Georgetown and back home. I walked about 10 miles in all. The weather was initially showery and super humid, but it ended up sunny and humid.
Evening downpour while crossing Rose Park, Georgetown, Washington, D.C., 7:06 p.m., August 28, 2020
I also had a very nice 80 minute phone conversation with Chester while on the trail. When I got to Georgetown, I stopped at Tony & Joe's for a drink and a food item to go (that's how you have to do it these days).

OK, that's all for now. Again, I will try to post an entry tomorrow night. Trouble is, these entries take so very long to compose -- and there is basically an infinite amount of things to discuss.
