Jukebox Saturday Night for October 13th, 2018: Blue Moon, Tiger Rag, and Be With You Edition

"Blue Moon" as performed wonderfully by the legendary Billie Holiday (1952)

Many artists have covered Blue Moon since the song was produced in 1934 by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Bing Crosby, among others, but I love this Billie Holiday version.

Next up, one of the earliest jazz standards …

"Tiger Rag" by Jelly Roll Morton (circa 1926)

The Tiger Rag was first recorded by the Original Dixieland Jass Band in 1917 -- so this goes back to the very earliest days of jazz.

And we'll end with something suitably Saturday night upbeat …

"Be With You" by Atomic Kitten from the group's Feels So Good (2002) and Ladies Night (2003) album releases

I featured this song about 3-1/2 years ago in this Jukebox Saturday Night edition, but I think it's fine to re-feature it.

OK, that's all for now. Please see my previous entry, which includes a brief update in addition to some political commentary.
