A Late Night Posting with Nice Weather Outdoor Pics OR Midway Through a So Far Pleasant June

Brilliant sunlight filtered through leafy green trees, 2000 block New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, D.C., 1:05PM June 12, 2018.

Tuesday was an exceptionally nice weather day (as explained below).

Just a quick late night entry.

Earlier this evening, I left work and walked (rather than taking the Metro) over to Chinatown and stopped at Dirty Habit, where Trade bartender Lucien was working his other job. I ended up having dinner and a few drinks and a very nice conversation before taking the Metro from very nearby Gallery Place to U Street / Cardozo stations and walked home.

I think this was around 31st and N Streets NW. I took this on my Sunday walk to Georgetown (although this week, I stopped at J. Paul's Saloon rather than Martin's Tavern).

I ate too much with my meal a hamburger with a sunny side up egg atop it and truffle fries. I haven't had a hamburger in quite some time (months). I try not to eat that stuff too much.

I also had a blizzard of text message exchanges with "TJ" (not his actual first name).

A picture of "TJ" taken last Friday as we had a quick lunch in the outdoor area of Station 4, SW Washington, D.C., 12:35PM June 8, 2018.

I have a long, strange history with him -- for a time about 22 years ago and then starting again about a year ago.

The weather was warm and very humid today. While extensive high cloudiness kept temperatures cooler than they would have been -- KDCA reached 85F while KBWI and KIAD both had a high of 83F -- dew points were in the 70F to 73F range.

I took the morning off and was walking to the gym (partly because my bathroom was being prepped for painting and I couldn't use it).

By contrast, yesterday (Tuesday) was truly a stunning beautiful day with highs around 76F to 77F and dew points in the 55F to 58F range under gentle blue skies fleeced with puffy cumulus / stratocumulus clouds and a south/southeasterly (maritime) breeze.

The fact that it had been so wet the previous several weeks made the greenery of the natural work all the more vibrant in the sunlight.

About that wet weather, for the period May 12th - June 11th, the following amounts were recorded:

KBWI: 12.54"
KDMH: 12.02"
KDCA: 11.91"
KIAD: 11.65"

These amounts and similar totals around the region erased the growing precipitation deficits and eliminated the drought conditions that had been developing over the previous 6 to 9 months.

However, it now appears that conditions are turning drier (i.e., less rainfall) and summery hot and humid with highs of 95F+ forecasted for Sunday and Monday and just scattered thunderstorms.

Changing subjects …

The Perry Mason episode on MeTV was "The Case of a Place Called Midnight" and it takes place in, I think, Austria (though it is never stated). Actor Werner Klemperer of Hogan's Heroes fame is in this episode as is actor Jim Davis, probably best known for playing "Jock" Ewing on Dallas.

Actor Robert Emhardt is also in this episode. I really dislike him. He annoys me -- although his IMDb bio states that he was nothing like his characters in real life.

The Twilight Zone episode was a spooky one: "The Odyssey of Flight 33."

OK, that's all for now. Tomorrow (Thursday) night is a gym night, and my intention is to post an entry thereafter. If not, I'll post a Friday evening entry.

Evening on the National Mall, Washington, D.C., 7:44PM June 12, 2018.

I walked home from work yesterday (Tuesday night as well).

OK, signing off. G'night.
