The Rainy Omens and Spectacular Sky Portends of this Stormy June -OR- Summer Expectations

Spectacular sunset pained on the clouds following powerful thunderstorms as seen from Lafayette Park, Washington, D.C., 8:46PM June 23, 2015.

It followed drenching, noisy thunderstorms (following a mid-90sF hot and humid day) in which I got drenched as I walked, ultimately, all the way home. I took this picture right after a dinner the Old Bar at Old Ebbitt Grill as I squished my way home. These were mammatus and other generally-looking mid-to-high level chaotic clouds on the backside of the thunderstorms.

Oh, yes, the new Secret Service security state "thing" is to drape police crime scene tape across the retractable bollards for all street access points and thus require you to use the sidewalk including if you are on a bicycle. This is being done to "grow freedom." It's how the Deep State operates, and it had been quite a while since there was a new layer of security added to our Bubble-like Washington World.

I did not get a chance to post an entry last night, specifically, one about the tremendous thunderstorms that drenched the D.C. area yesterday evening (see here) and then the surreal sunset that followed from setting sunlight on the receding clouds (see top image of entry).

Deluge as seen from the side of the William Jefferson Clinton (old Ariel Rios) Building along 12th Street NW, Washington, D.C., 7:13PM June 23, 2015.

I didn't have an umbrella and I had my computer in my backpack. (The computer was fine.) I will explain in a subsequent entry.

The storms added to the hefty monthly surpluses at both KDCA and KBWI. The latter climate station spot is nearing an all-time wettest June record. (I'll write more on all of this in my next entry.)

I also would like to post an overdue New Horizons - Pluto update (just 20 days to the nearest encounter) with ever-better pictures being sent by our awesome, intrepid little probe so far from home.

Sequence of deconvoluted LORRI images of Pluto's hemispheres -- the one New Horizons will see at closest approach and the opposite one -- taken between June 5 and 18th, 2015. Note how Pluto is growing steadily in size as New Horizons nears.

Go, New Horizons, Go!

Finally, I would like to update the status of my facial malady under my right eye. It is still noticeably swollen but the redness has mostly gone away. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. I also started taking some left-over (but not out-of-date) antibiotics that I had from one of my sinus / gum infection episodes.

Oh, yes, and as upcoming inevitable entries, many of us are waiting with trepidation on the Supreme Court's impending decisions in the immortal words of Jonathan Chait the "elaborate prank" of lawsuit of King v. Burwell and the Obergefell v. Hodges gay marriage case that will determine if there is a constitutional right in all 50 states.

In the meantime, I need to get to work. As for tonight, I intend to go to the gym as I have not gone since Saturday, even looking like I do. All this being the case, I'll try to update the blog late tonight.
