"What's Going On?" by Marvin Gaye from his album of same name (1971).
And what's going with you, Marvin? We miss you.
"I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter" as performed by the wonderful Sarah Vaughan (uncertain of year).
The song was written by Fred E. Ahlert with lyrics by Joe Young and was released in 1935. Many artists have done it over the years. Indeed, the great Fats Waller himself performed a piano version of this song.
Speaking of Fats Waller, here is his wonderful 1930 piano rendition of "After You've Gone."
The song was composed by Turner Layton with lyrics written by Henry Creamer. It was first performed by Marion Harris in 1918.
And for something more Saturday night upbeat ...
"I Love Music" by the O'Jays on the group's Family Reunion album (1975).
OK, I really need to get moving as I want to get to the gym by quarter to five. Thereafter, I'm meeting Wendy, Andrea, Imara, and Imara's sister for dinner at Eatonville at 730PM. (The restaurant is a block of my Anthony Bowen YMCA.) The restaurant has an awesome voodoo rum punch.
Gary, if you read this entry, you are invited to come, too.
Next update probably not until late Monday night (i.e., early Tuesday).
