WOODY! and the Palka-cabra's dream climate.
Not much to write tonight -- and I certainly don't have time to post the pictures I mentioned. It's already 1130PM and I need to go to bed. I had a very nice day (even if I didn't get up until 3PM). I went over to Wendy's place and we chatted while I got to see her big, fluffy malamute Tacoma (a curiously quiet dog that prefers to stay inside and sleep). Thereafter, I went to Larry's Lounge, where I ended up having a really nice time with Gary, Kristof, and John (and Dishan showed up and all was well). Anyway, for this entry, I just want to post a brief weather and commentary update ...
NWS forecast for the grid point of downtown Washington, D.C., with icons, valid 15 - 19 September 2013. Ignore that 30 POP for Monday -- that's not going to happen.
We are at that time of year when it basically NEVER rains in the D.C. area, especially in years with no tropical activity as this one, and it is flippin' annoying. However, the good news about this year -- the slowly expanding drought notwithstanding -- is that it has been quite pleasant rather than disgustingly hot and humid.
The good news is that WOODY! the Woodcock forecaster at Sterling LWX -- not to mention the he and the Sterling crew's pet Palka-Cabra -- has his annual opportunity to yammer on endlessly for weeks on end in the area forecast discussion (AFD) about how great the dry weather is, and when he gets all opinion-y, how people will randomly come up to him and declare that this is their "FAV TIME OF YEAR!" (He wrote that a couple years ago in an AFD.) To that end, here is tonight's AFD update:

Translation: Don't dare mention the chance of any rainfall at a "specific airfield"! I'm WOODY! and I approved this message!!
We need some flippin' rain, no matter how much the local news jokesters and mannequins -- in between Amber Alerts and local lurid crime and the other nonsense and crap, all steeped in unwatchable commercials -- declares their love for endless sunshine and drought.
OK, before I end, I recommend this Ross Douthat blog entry piece -- and the links embedded within it: "Looking for the Anti-Bloomberg".
OK, that's all for now.
