Friday Night Musical Interlude April 19th, 2013 ("Year 2042") Edition

"Taken In" by Mike + The Mechanics ("Taken In" single release, 1986)

It's an interesting video. And, yes, that's actor / comedian Richard Belzer back in 1985 or '86 in the video.  Back before he looked like an ashen prune.

This is just a quick Friday night musical interlude. It's a warm, (welcome) rainy, stormy night with thunderstorms moving through ahead of a strong cold front. The pattern looks to be cool and maybe drizzly with a "CAD" scenario off the Atlantic Ocean next week. Good.

I came home a tad early from work (indeed, I have about two hours of work to make up this weekend), and I did my laundry. I had a letter from Sallie Mae about my Direct Loans (remember it now servicing them), and I'd like to talk about this in a subsequent entry. Long story short, I MAY be able to get the excessive debt forbearance -- or at least apply for it -- in lieu of using up my last year of general forbearance. I've gotten conflicting info on this matter in my previous two phone calls.

The letter I got showing when my debt would be paid off:

Seven monthly payments beginning with a date of 5/28/42 put it in November 2042. This was actually oddly poignant because I know that is a reality that will never come to pass.

That is, I will never "finish" paying my student loans in that long-time-from-now year. For starters, I may very well be dead by then. In the meantime, all kinds of things for good and/or bad will have happened to change my life circumstances.

If I am alive, I will be 72 years (my dad's current age) turning 73.

Speaking of my dad, he called a short while ago sounding half asleep and his voice all slurred -- and told me has to move to a new place but it will still be in Flagler Beach, Fla.

OK, I need to go now. I'm meeting Mike G., who is driving into D.C. tonight after a College Park swim event, and we're going to go to a few places, but not sure where. I'll take him to a gay place at some point, I guess.

I intend to update the blog over the weekend, possibly with my final batch of January New Jersey trip pics to Aunt Babe's 100th birthday party.
