Summer Flowers and Scattered July Rain Showers

**Updated 9:55PM 11/8/2014: See below.**

A sunflower grows along the 1500 block of 16th Street NW, Washington, D.C., 7:25PM, July 14, 2012. I was walking back from the gym.

OK, it's time for another blog entry. Let the posting agony begin. And let's see if I can get through this entry with no "blue screens of death" or other Bill Gates' contrived corporate scams.

I'm home now as dusk falls. It has clouded up again and there are showers and thunderstorms just south of D.C. across various parts of Virginia, and they are creeping northeastward but also appear to be dissipating at they get near. Thus, I'm not sure if we will get anything.

The Sterling LWX radar in enhanced composite mode reflectivity, 8:03PM, July 14, 2012. Composite mode shows activity within the clouds as well as what is falling so it (as here) it typically looks more dramatic than what is actually falling.

As you can see from the map, there is at present actually a flash flood watch out for the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah valley stretching into the far D.C. exurbs of Virginia.

There was a short-lived downpour around quarter to six this evening and some heavy rainshowers in the wee hours. The early morning ones dropped 0.04" at DCA, 0.10" at IAD, and 0.26" at BWI. There was another 0.04" at DCA in the early evening. We need a good 6 inches of rainfall over a few weeks to make up our deficit.

Otherwise, the day was variably cloudy, humid, breezy, and seasonably warm with highs between 85F and 88F.

I'm watching TV right now -- reairings of new episodes of The Soul Man on TV Land.

Normally, I don't go for black guys but I think Wesley Jonathan (who plays "Stamps" in the show) is tremendously attractive. His physique is stunning.

He plays the younger, carefree, hedonistic brother of the main character Rev. Boyce (played by Cedric the Entertainer). Boyce's wife Lolli -- played by Niecy Nash -- is very funny.

Earlier today, I went to the YMCA gym late this afternoon and spent two hours there in my usual routine -- treadmill, elliptical trainer, some weight-lifting, and swimming. It sounds more impressive than it is.

And there really is no sign of significant weight loss in the 3 weeks since I (re)joined the gym. Maybe just 2 or 3 pounds (I weighed a whisper under 180 pounds). But that isn't going to discourage me and I intend to stick with this regardless.

**Updated 9:55PM 11/8/2014: Regarding what I wrote directly above nearly 28 months ago, my weight dropped to the low 140s by about 13 months ago and it has stayed there ever since, so I think I can tentatively say that I was successful. As for what was below, I have removed some content. It was the usual stupid topic. End of update.**

So last night I stopped in Millie & Al's -- mostly just to go in the upstairs "Big Al's Room" bar but it wasn't open when I got there at 9:40PM (it opens on Fridays and Saturdays at 10PM).

However, Wall-P was there with his whole Our Gang Comedy Tragedy. Given his wealth and the mansion he has to put it in, plus his outward personality in social settings that is confident, fun-loving, and, yes, easy to get along with, he is often the focal point of social gatherings.

I would not have gone there if I knew they were there like that, esp. since the place was not crowded and so there presence filled the room.

Mistress of the Manse was there. Now that she has won her Total Victory, as usually happens with those who win wars and emerge unconditionally victorious, I suspect she wants validation that she is the most moral and ethical of them all. In short, she now seeks honor and respect.

Congo Bongo: The flag of the République du Congo outside L'Ambassade de la République du Congo along 16th Street NW, Washington, D.C., 4:01PM, July 14, 2012. My walk to the gym takes me past the Embassy of the Republic of Congo and the Embassy of Australia (although sometimes I zig-zag over to 17th Street to avoid Scott Circle).

While I was there, Miss G. came up to me and thought it just swell to tell me that (1) she believes everything that Wall-P and his gang say, and (2) has no interest in hearing my side. This is all the more galling the reason for the final straw that caused the big rupture was indirectly due to her and my efforts to get Miss G. yet another invitation to yet another party.

It was to some overcrowded and ridiculous gay wedding reception at the house where Mistress, her hair all huge, her dress flowing on a hot summer night, started screeching at me and "you gays" and I yelled back (making a scene), and Wall-P in its binary style took her side.

The Republic of the Congo should not be confused with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly Republic of Zaïre, and formerly formerly Democratic Republic of the Congo, and formerly formerly formerly the Belgian Congo. May there be a special place in hell for the genocidal old f/ck Emperor Leopold II. No, really.

BTW, the Belgian Congo under Leopold II is exactly the GOP Overclass's Corporate Oligarchical Dream State for America -- and the overclass is using the clueless Teabagger tools for that purpose.

Anyway, speaking of that gay couple, they were at Millie & Al's in that group last night. I can't see them infrequently enough yet I always seem to pass them.

Wall-P had the nerve to say hello to me in passing on the steps to upstairs as though nothing happened. I think his internal programming must have calculated in binary 0-1-0-1 style no net adverse consequences for his cash flow or legal clients. I said nothing back.

I should mention that Chris T. sent me texts and some pictures of things he encounters in his life down there in Alabama. He takes drives on the weekend from Montgomery, so I get these random photos, such as ...

Flea market and antique shop in Jemison, Alabama, July 14, 2012.

And ...

Food Outlet, located next to Top's Beauty Supply, Prattville, Alabama, July 14, 2012. Oh, the humanity. This is a reality gone very wrong.

Anyway, the reason I mention Chris T. is that he texted me the following: "U could just make up. U like being the hated one for some reason."

I soon left and went over to Larry's Lounge to meet Gary. Later, I went to Nellie's. I haven't mentioned this but one of the bartenders there passed away unexpectedly last week at the age of 26. It has been big news in the D.C. gay community. There is a memorial service for him tomorrow.

OK that's all for now. My next planned update will be in two or three days.
