Themeless Thursday Blog Entry

Morning view from my apartment overlooking the intersection of 16th and U Streets and New Hampshire Avenue NW, Washington, D.C., 6:10AM, June 14, 2012.

Yes, I was up (briefly) at 6:10AM before going back to sleep for about another 2 hours.

I need to update this entry on this Thursday (Flag Day) but I am planning on meeting Kristof at Larry's Lounge tonight as a friend Ani is heading back to India tomorrow. Thus, I don't have the usual the 4 to 6 hours that it takes me to write a typical entry. Thus, I have decided to post an INITIAL version of this entry and then perhaps later an UPDATED / EXPANDED version of it.

Same view as above at the same time, slightly more to the southwest than west-southwest, the Balfour entirely visible, and the blue of the sky not quite as saturated to nearly turquoise.

Updated (before posting): Nevermind ... the entry will stand as it. I ended up spending about 2 hours on it.

Among topics I would like to cover ...

My morning was really ruined by a visit from some weird quartet of people from / associated with my employer's for-profit mega-health insurance provider providing a "free" biometric screening.

Long story short, I'm a fat f/ck, or at least I look like a dugong (see above image) when in the bathtub, and I have somewhat elevated blood pressure and slightly high cholesterol that together means I'm only good only for the corporate oligarchical overclass's trash heap.

The scam at the biometric screening was you get some bogus "free gift" gift certificate if you "register" on line -- including submitting even more personal info aside from what they already captured -- thus enabling the numbers are more readily and quickly used against you. I gave the one guy who was directly form the health insurance company a somewhat hard time.

Here I am at Dupont Circle earlier this evening ... Or rather, my likely twin in a couple of years, (I blacked out his face for the image).

The numbers and my own bovinity really upset me all day. Yes, I know what I have to do (rejoin the YMCA, which I plan to do soon -- as in maybe next pay check once I buy my airline ticket to go down to visit my dad).

Computer Update ...

My computer seems to be working OK and an update successfully installed. My Avast! also seems to be working fine.

Wall-P's Moneymoon

Wall-P is on his HMoneymoon with the Mistress of the Manse. It's probably at some tacky American-oriented Caribbean resort or on a massive floating theme park cruise ship. I imagine Wall-P has been impressed with any wealth or power he has met along the way.

"Eh. Eh. The higher an individual's wealth, the greater that individual's value to human society. Indeed, in an otherwise meaningless Universe where humans impose value, the metric by which that value is assigned --"

Ohhhh, shutup, Wall-P, you wee corporate stooge.

And, of course, I'm sure he -- just like the WaHoPo Editorial Board -- was duly impressed with "Master of the Universe" billionaire crook Jamie Dimon's testimony before that wholly whored out Senate committee the other day in which the "tough" Senators tripped over themselves kissing the searingly arrogant Dimon's ass and praising / excusing his JPMorgan trillion dollar Wall Street casino criminal empire.

Meanwhile, I'm sure he and Mistress had their first fight as a U.S. legally-recognized married couple -- likely some argument because he wanted to check his investment portfolio in the ship's computer lab ("eh-eh-eh ... this proves my methods") and she wanted to go Salsa dancing on the lido deck.

Great Danes and Turkey Vultures

Yesterday morning, I saw a strange site: A turkey vulture walking a (harlequin-coated?) Great Dane, or maybe the Great Dane was walking the turkey vulture.

But it wasn't just ANY turkey vulture. Rather, it was the "Turkey Vulture" -- one of the top members of the D.C. 17th Street Gay Mafia. I was walking to the Metro on my way to work, so naturally it was a shitty way to start the day.

At least it wasn't Oooza the Unloved Crow Creature, nor Mr. Sirius, a.k.a, Donald Duck, but I never see them. I think the Turkey Vulture lives -- roosts -- somewhere relatively close to me.

#######

Lastly, I think we've entered a dry pattern -- and we're still below on rainfall for the year -- but there is a maritime flow off the Atlantic that is in place and should remain so for several days, so it's not disgustingly hot here in D.C. as it was the past two Junes.

OK, that's all for now. My next update may be tomorrow or Saturday.
