Flu-Wracked Monday -OR- Sick As A Dog ...

I'm sick as a dog ...

Yours Truly, Regulus, at 2:12AM, Feb. 9, 2009.

#############

I've come down with a severe case of the flu. I'm in agony and will probably not be going to my Monday class today. I also have not finished that write up for my contracting job on nuclear power plant safety culture. It is due by "COB" Tuesday but I don't know if I'm going to be able to sit in front and write it.

If I cannot do it, it will jeopardize a substantial amount of income (nearly $2,000) and screw up everything, but I'm so sick right now.

I feel worse than the American economy. I hope I don't have the analog to Republican and Democratic "centrist" style "care" for the economy that will only make me worse.

This flu hit me yesterday after I went out Saturday night to Omega with Gary, Kristof, and LP. We skipped Cobalt since I was not interested in seeing the big Saturday night guest, Chi Chi frickin' LaRue, porn film empire impresario.

I had been skirting with coming down with the flu all last week but I managed to go out drinking and come down with it full bore. Kristof had it last week and was sick as a dog. Gary was sick a few weeks ago for an extended period. too. So I guess it's goin' around.

##########

Earlier on Saturday night, I was with Chris T. at City Lights of China and he bought me dinner again. Chris was also feeling a bit ill.

Big lady at City Lights of China ... I've just rediscovered this place after a 10 year hiatus that includes a revamped "light menu" with sauces put on the side.

##########

As it is, I'm feeling slightly better at this nearly 230AM hour as I'm heavily medicated up on Theraflu and Sudafed and what not. I'm in my little place with my fan whirling away and two of my three lamps turned on. I feel like I'm in an alternate reality.

I went to sleep around 9PM, unable to finish watching the TCM airing of the 1945 movie "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn."

I had some strange dreams about Australia, a weather text book cover, and Mr. Sirius. The latter is odd since for as much as I have spent thinking about him, I rarely dream about him.

On TVLand right now is a rerun of "The Brady Bunch." Here and here are Web sites dedicated to info about the house used in the exterior shots.

Oh, God.

Earlier this Sunday, before the flu hit him, I managed to take a walk with Gary down to the Washington Harbour complex, past the Watergate, and to the Kennedy Center, by which point I was in agony.

###########

What follows are some pictures I took on my walk with Gary late this Sunday afternoon ...

The Fireplace at the corner of P and 21st St., NW, Washington, D.C., Feb. 8, 2009. This is probably at present the skankiest gay bar in D.C.

############

The C&O Canal in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C., Feb. 8, 2009 with the sidewalk that runs along it. This historic canal is nasty.

############

Gary at the Washington Harbour complex on Sunday evening, Feb. 8, 2009. Yes, "harbour" is spelled with the British spelling. The weather was unseasonably warm, highs near 65F.

The GFS model continues to advertise a potential 4 to 6 inch accumulating snow next Saturday. Yeah, right. If you want to hear Gary give the weather, call up the Verizon Weather Line for Washington, D.C. The number is 202-936-1212. He is one of the four or five telephone meteorologists, though I'm not sure what is his on-air schedule.

Another Washington Harbour complex image, Washington, D.C., Feb. 8, 2009.

###########

The ugly Watergate complex of Nixon Watergate scandal infamy -- with its 1960s "Modern Movement" architectural design that includes a weird "serpentine" layout and exterior serrated balustrades -- and the Kennedy Center along the Potomac River, Feb. 8, 2009.

############

That's all for now. I better go since I feel my flu roaring back. I need to rest, except sleeping is almost impossible.

Oh, yes, please note that I adjusted the background color slightly as well as the blog description and blog title font colors.

Well i do hope you feel better soon.

All I can suggest is paracetamol really,
(or tea made from fenugreek seeds which tastes truly diabolical)

The light on your photos is very beautiful.

Paracetamol? Fenugreek seeds? Good Lord. That sounds scary.

I'm still so sick this morning. I can barely function.

If this is the same thing I had last week it will be painful but you should be able to beat it within three days or so. Especially if you don't make the mistake of going out the moment you start feeling a little better. That's what I did and regretted doing it.

Get better

ugh! You sound awful. Hopefully you have a supply of chicken soup, crackers & juice or a good friend that will bring you these things.

Most important, drink plenty of fluids.
