In Today's Edition of Trumpster Fires at Camp Runamuck: Watergate On Fast-Forwarded Steroids and Ryan/McConnell Mortuary Care

Some political commentary ...

If I can channel the great political writer Charlie Pierce, in today's clusterfuck from Camp Runamuck where Trumpster garbage fires continue to burn wildly, Trump pal Chris Ruddy -- CEO of the rightwing toxic sludge Newsmax -- indicated that our cognitively dissociated Commander-in-Chief is considered firing ("perhaps terminating") Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III.

A former FBI Director, Mueller is the man appointed last month by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to look into Trump's sprawling, multi-tentacle Russia mess that seems to encompass everything from encouraging KGB meddling in last year's presidential election to murky business dealings with Putin-allied Russian oligarchs (to be clear, there are no other sort) to that little matter of Russian hookers.

In this way, Trump is ginning up a redux of Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre but on fast forward and with a steroidal injection. It started earlier today when the usual propaganda organs of the VRWC media/entertainment complex began turning their fire on Mueller as somehow being a pawn and patsy of the Democrats and the Hated Hillary (who in defeat has the role of Emmanuel Goldstein for the American right).

This included the huge-headed dragon beast of Newt Gingrich, who spewed some garbage about the matter earlier today.

Ruddy's comments this evening exploded all over the cable news/commentary shows -- especially on MSNBC, where Chris Matthews's very sanity seems to be fraying at what is happening.

In this case, Trump would have to order Rosenstein to do it since Attorney General Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III has already nominally recused himself from the whole From Putin's Russia, With Love affair.

As for old Confederate JeffBo, tomorrow he is to testify in public before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence -- the same one before which fired FBI Director James Comey, the man who simultaneously gave us Trump as President with his October surprise and might be the man who helps bring him down, testified last week.

Meanwhile at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue here in the Imperial Capital City of Oz, Republicans in complete control of both Houses of Congress are busily crafting in secret a bill to give trillions of dollars in tax giveaways to multimillionaires and billionaires by robbing 20 million plus people of their recently acquired health insurance under Obamacare.

The Senate's amoral extraordinaire parliamentarian Mitch "The Bitch" McConnell is crafting in total secret -- with no hearings and before the CBO can score anything -- a bill not unlike the bloody abortion of a bill that was rammed through Paul Ryan's Libertarian House O' Horrors last month.

The Arc of the Moral Universe for this bill will be, of course, that it passes 50-50 with Post Trump Impeachment President Pence breaking the tie. The only slight fly in that Preparation "FU" ointment is if the bill isn't sufficiently punitive and upwardly redistributive enough for the House Teabag Caucus, those lunatics might "balk" at it.

This will be followed by the usual POLITICO nihilistic political "analysis" circle jerk in which Republicans again pulled off an "impressive win" -- while the little matter of the tens of thousands who will needlessly die as a result of lack of access to basic health care is viewed as just so much "Democrat Party spin."

Now if this does come to pass -- and Jonathan Chait, characteristically, has very good takes on it here and here -- and there is no blowback in the Reddest of Poor Red States (this means West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee, not the Lost Cause of Mississippi), but instead the ethno-nationalistic panic of the downwardly mobile American white working class is such that they stick with the GOP, then we have to conclude that not only are they opioid addicted, they are outright collectively suicidal.

Of course, it has been my experience that collectively, folks don't ever admit they made a mistake and the marks that Trump conned so bigly last November aren't going to give up on him.

Maybe it's the case that only Republicans can break the Ebola-like political virus that has consumed their party and made them incapable of actually governing -- to wit, in Kansas, the GOP-controlled legislature finally drove a stake through the heart of Sam Brownback's supply side voodoo economics zombie, raising taxes in order to begin to right the badly-listing and taking-on-water Sunflower State's Ship of State.

I should note that the Attorney General of the State of Maryland along with his D.C. counterpart filed a lawsuit in federal court today alleging that Trump is in serious violation of the Emoluments Clause anti-corruption provisions of the United States Constitution. Here is the WaHoPo story about it: D.C. and Maryland AGs: Trump 'flagrantly violating' emoluments clause.

I suspect a few other Blue State AGs might join in on this effort (California and New York -- we need you!).

It's all such an extraordinary spectacle.
