I've been on a bit of a Dinah Washington kick of late -- to include featuring in last week's Jukebox Saturday Night edition -- but somehow this song somehow seems doubly appropriate for this weekend:
"What a Diff'rence a Day Makes" by Dinah Washington from her album of same name, namely, What a Diff'rence a Day Makes! (1959)
Just awesome. We lost Dinah Washington much too soon.
Now here is a really nice piece by the group EFX ...
"Ballerina" by Special EFX from the group's Just Like Magic release (1990)
Part of the group Special EFX is Chieli Minucci.
And now let's end with something suitably Saturday night upbeat and energetic ...
"Dancing in the Dark" by Bruce Springsteen from his megahit album Born in the U.S.A. (1984)
I heard this song at the gym today and was reminded how much I've always liked it. Wow, Springsteen was young in this video.
Before he was really famous, he would perform at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, N.J., as well as sometimes on the beach. This is when I was a baby / toddler living nearby. Springsteen subsequently lived for many years in the wealthy enclave of Rumson, N.J., where my childhood and teenage years best friend Jonathan used to live.
(Of note, Springsteen is no fan of Donald Trump. )
OK, that's all for now. Please see my previous entry for an update.
