American Spring Rain -OR- The Waters of March (Part 1)

A rainy late spring or early summer evening in some city park in a picture I found on the internet. I'm not sure where this was taken or when.

#######

Speaking of rain, the good news is that lots of rain is in the forecast for tomorrow into Friday. I hope so.

The Baltimore/Washington NWS Forecast Office ("Sterling LWX") County Warning Area (CWA) map valid as of 10:50PM, March 9, 2011 showing the various weather-related advisories in place ahead of the impending heavy rainfall.

Political Commentary Jaunt ...

One of the great Banksy works ... It really says all you need to know about the United States. Today, though, there would be a picture of some shitty Wall Street banker with Obama hat-in-hand and a bunch of crazy Teabaggers foaming at the mouth about Obama's birth certificate while denying all manner of basic science and knowledge and believing whatever horseshit Fox Nazi News lies they were told earlier that day.

#######

Ha ha

(FYI: The joke here is that thir name "Koch" is pronounced "Coke" rather than "Kotch".)

#######

Alex Pareene of Salon.com had a good take on the global climate change deniers who make up the "libertarian" deep thinkers and organizations funded by the Koch Brothers-- specifically, he calls attention to the BASIC FACT that they fund organizations out of self interest.

This shows just how absurd is the supposed "libertarianism" since it really is nothing more than providing sycophantic justification to whatever unchecked corporate kleptocracy, human misery, and environmental despoliation they seek to in the name of money and power.

Calling James K. "Dow 36 Billion" Glassman ...

"I'm not a free libertarian, but I'm reasonable ..."

#######

Speaking of climate change and politics ...

... there was an interesting piece that appeared Feb. 28, 2010 on Grist by David Roberts entitled "What we have and haven't learned from 'Climategate'" and another one about how climate change / global warming is leading to more negative Arctic Oscillation (and North Atlantic Oscillation) episodes that actually makes it colder and snowier in the Northern Hemisphere middle latitudes.

#######

Southern Political Climate ...

"Why don’t we just let the entire South secede, build a moat around it, add some 'gators' so they can’t get back out ... and help all who want to escape, do so ... and forget about it? Life would be so nice for the rest of us... And for them too, in their world of chastity belts, pregnant teens, gold and silver tender, no benefits, slave wages, long hours with the 'little woman at home cooking dinner'. They wouldn’t be forced to accept health care nor federal money and can fly their own flag! I’m tired of trying to make a house pet out of a wolverine. It's just not working out for me." -- A commentator quoted on Bartcop

#######

North-South Yin-and-Yang ...

In truth, though, the North and South can't separate. As embodied in today's Dems and Rethugs, the North and South are locked in an eternal yin-and-yang relationship. They need each other (in particular the South needs the North for money and support).

And if you want to see a Frankensteinian hybrid, look at Northern Virginia with its toxic combination of political correctness and evangelical fundamentalism in the context of endless sprawl, a useless service industry economy, and obsession over bullshit, such as who brought a peanut into the classroom.

#######

Let's cue Lee Greenwood, except adapted as necessary:

"And I'm proud to be an American a Teabagger / Where at least I know I'm free a clueless tool of bourgeois oligarchical Spread-Eagle Nordic-Gentile reactionary corporate intrigue ..."

Idiots.

I hate living in Washington, D.C., capital of the obscene, late stage Empire, and I'm going to start looking at jobs in other cities -- including outside the U.S., preferably in an English speaking First World country with either socialized or single payer insurance medicine.

Yes, this is an Isaac Asimov Foundation series illustration of Trantor, the Galactic Capital.

Am I Wrong?

Lastly, I need to delete that other site. It's too filled with libelous hatred. He'd have actionable cause to sue. I don't like being that hateful of a person.

Plus I've been thinking that perhaps ... just perhaps ... I'm wrong about things. Maybe I actually did what they said and I deserved what happened. But the SOB was an unforgiving monster to me for 10 years, so it really would have never made any difference what I did.

This pope gives me the spiritual piles.

Earlier tonight at Jaleo here in downtown Washington, D.C., where I went with Gerry for a nice dinner.

#######

"I'm an excellent driver ..."

So at work I get to write / edit several chapters on an annual report on the commercialization of electric vehicles, in particular plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), including on-going advanced lithium-ion battery development, and the related charging infrastructure.

Odd that I get to do this when I've never even owned an old-fashioned internal combustion engine car and NEVER drive at all.

Yes, that IS Thomas Edison posing with an electric car in 1913 ... Imagine how different history would have been if civilization had followed the EV route instead of the internal combustion engine.

Rainy night on U Street, NW, Washington, D.C., 7:03PM, March 6, 2011.

OK, I think that's all for now. My next planned update will be over the weekend. Tomorrow night hopefully will be a good Larry's Lounge rainy night.
